Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota Industries Corporation have jointly developed a new battery for hybrid electric vehicles. The technology has been designed in anticipation of further development and introduction of hybrid electric vehicles.
Moving forward, the companies will discuss target vehicle models, as well as battery specifications and performance.
To meet the increased HEV demand, production of the new batteries is planned to take place at Toyota Industries’ Kyowa Plant and at a site adjacent to the Higashiura Plant. Toyota Motor plans to work with Toyota Industries in future to further strengthen its supply structure.
