Peugeot has announced that it will develop a new range of electrified sports vehicles, which will be available from 2020.
After presenting its new generation of PHEVs as part of its electrification-heavy booth at this year’s Paris Motor Show, the OEM has revealed that it will concentrate its resources on developing these new vehicles – and has therefore decided to withdraw from the World Rallycross Championship at the end of the 2018 season, given uncertainty around the series’ approach toward electrification.
The competition has made tentative plans for an electric mode by 2021, but Peugeot has decided that its own strategy for electrification (which is to be included in all new models from 2019) should take precedence.
Peugeot’s range of high-performance, low-emission electrified sports vehicles will be developed in collaboration with Peugeot Sport teams and will contribute to the OEM’s steps to reduce CO2 emissions.
