To celebrate 50 years of the XJ, Jaguar Land Rover has announced that its 2019 XJ50 will be equipped with a supercharged, aluminum V6 unit. The powerplant includes direct injection, variable valve timing and forced induction.
The 3.0-liter supercharged V6 promises to develop 340ps and 450Nm of torque, and is also available on the newest XJ R-Sport, XJL Portfolio and XJ50 models, in rear- or all-wheel drive.
Developed to offer linear power and a free-revving nature, the JLR engine’s soundtrack was the subject of extensive R&D, resulting in finely tuned intake and exhaust systems.
The flagship engine for the XJ remains the 5.0-liter supercharged V8. This engine produces 575ps and 700Nm of torque in the XJR575 performance flagship, enough for 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 280km/h. This motor is also available with an output of 470ps and 574Nm of torque.
All powertrains in the 2019 XJ feature an optimized eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Each has been developed to provide a balance between launch performance, shift comfort and vehicle dynamics.
Two variants from the 8HP transmission family can be fitted to the XJ, the familiar 8HP70 transmission and the lighter, more compact 8HP45.
