German OEM Audi has revealed that its latest performance SUV, the Audi SQ7 TDI, will be equipped with the brand’s 4-liter biturbo V8 engine. The eight-cylinder system will generate a maximum power output of 435ps and 900Nm of torque between 1,250rpm and 3,250rpm.
Thanks to the turbocharged diesel unit at its heart, the SQ7 will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and reach an electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h (155mph). Fuel consumption sits between 7.6 and 7.4l/100km, while CO2 emissions are between 200 and 194g/km.
Audi has fitted the SQ7 with a 48V electrical subsystem, which feeds an electric powered compressor (EPC) that assists the two turbos when under high load demand from the accelerator and the available energy in the exhaust gas is still low.
The EPC is integrated into the intake air tract. A compact e-motor accelerates its compressor impeller to up to 70,000rpm in 250ms. In the exhaust system, two actuators modulate a full eight-cylinder sound.
