Italian OEM Alfa Romeo has added an all-new SUV to its Quadrifoglio line-up; featuring a 2.9 liter V6 engine and Ferrari technologies, the premium compact SUV clocked a new record for its class at Nürburgring.

Developed with power to weight ratio in mind, the company’s newest SUV has a curb weight of just 1,830kg and boasts an aluminum 2.9-liter V6 Bi-Turbo petrol unit, and thanks to input from the engineers at Ferrari, it will generate 515ps at 6,500rpm as well as a maximum torque of 600Nm from 2,500 to 5,000rpm.

Teamed with an eight-speed automatic transmission that shifts gear in just 150ms. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio will reach 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds, and has a top speed of 176mph.

While performance is a core focus, the OEM promises efficiency thanks to an electronically controlled cylinder deactivation system. To further improve the driving experience, it is also equipped with one-piece aluminum paddle shifters.

The V6 unit is combined with the Q4 all-wheel drive system, this means in normal conditions, the system will transfer all of the torque to the rear axle and as the wheels approach their grip limit, the system transmits up to 50% of the torque to the front axle, thanks to a transfer case.

Inclusion of torque vectoring technology optimizes drive distribution and further ensures optimal power transfer even when the car is pushed to its dynamic limits, without the need for the stability control system. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio will arrive in summer 2018.
