Acura has started mass production of the 2019MY RDX, Honda’s X3 and Q5 competitor, at its East Liberty, Ohio, plant. It is the fruit of a recent US$54m investment in Honda’s Ohio factory.
The RDX will be available exclusively – at least for the moment – with Honda’s 276hp 2.0-liter, VTEC turbo, driving through a new 10-speed torque converter automatic transmission and Acura’s SH-AWD system.
The 2.0-liter turbo shares some architecture with the current Civic Type-R engine and replaces the previous generation RDX’s V6.
