Dana has acquired the Drive Systems segment of the Oerlikon Group, including the Graziano and Fairfield brands. The agreement allows Dana to increase its electrification capabilities and further improves its manufacturing presence.
The expansion of Dana’s current technology portfolio provides greater experience in high-precision helical gear solutions for light and commercial vehicles, as well as planetary hub drives for wheeled and tracked vehicles.
The company expects this move to aid development of its capabilities in electronic controls for transmissions and drivelines through the acquisition of Vocis, the Oerlikon Drive Systems-owned business, and motor technologies through Ashwoods Electric Motors.
The acquisition will also improve Dana’s product offerings to support vehicle electrification in light vehicle, commercial vehicle and off-highway applications.

“The Drive Systems business’s highly talented team is also strategically positioned to give our customers access to critical manufacturing capabilities in key growth markets, such as India, China, and the USA.”
As a result of the agreement, Dana will add four R&D facilities to its current network of technology centers, as well as 12 sites to its global manufacturing footprint.
