Chevrolet has revealed its new Bolt EV in public at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
The Bolt EV, which will go into production by the end of 2016, will offer more than 200 miles of range on a full charge. The company has moved the car from concept to production-ready very quickly. “It was less than a year ago that we revealed the Bolt EV concept and promised to deliver a long-range electric vehicle attainable by the masses,” said GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra. “We can use our scale to bring new technologies to more people faster.”
The company has yet to release any technical information about the new EV, other than saying that it has managed to increase interior space over the outgoing model by using a flat battery mounted underneath the cabin floor.
The Bolt EV will be built at GM’s Orion, Michigan assembly facility, near Detroit.
