Audi is offering its RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback models with a new Performance option that squeezes even more performance out of the company’s 4-liter biturbo engine.
The extra power comes thanks to tweaks to the ECU and a higher turbo-boost pressure and makes for 0-100km/h times of 3.7 seconds for both models and just 12.1 seconds for the 0-200km/h sprint – an improvement of 0.2 and 1.4 seconds respectively.
Power output from the 3,993cc TFSI engine has been increased by 45ps to 605ps, available between 6,100 and 6,800rpm, with an increase in maximum revs of 200rpm.
The company says that a constant 700Nm of torque is available between 1,750 and 6,000rpm and a new overboost function allows the driver access to up to 750Nm between 2,500 and 5,500rpm.
The basic performance of the engine comes thanks to twin-scroll turbochargers that provide for early and rapid development of torque, as well as innovative thermal management and cylinder head layout.
The intake side of the cylinders is located on the outside and the exhaust side on the inside. The turbos and their intercooler are located in the inner V, which makes for short gas flow paths with minimal flow losses and spontaneous response.
