The PSA group has strengthened the Citroën C1 range with a new Euro 6.2 qualifying engine. Co-developed with Toyota, the 1.0-liter three-cylinder VTi 72 promises more power and lower emissions
The new engine, one of the first to comply with the latest Euro 6.2 emissions regulations, has been developed by Toyota and the PSA Group to take advantage of the change of pollution control standards and offer a vehicle with both greater power and lower emissions.
Thanks to redevelopment of the previous 1.0-liter VTi powertrain, the latest iteration has had its output upgraded. Now with 72ps, the new C1 offers four more PS than its predecessor.
New to the Citroën C1 range, the 1.0-liter three-cylinder gasoline unit can be bolted to either a 5-speed manual or ETG gearbox. The VTi 72 engine will become the only engine available on Citroën C1.
Citroën has announced that the new motor will feature in two new special editions of its C1. The French auto maker’s partnership with the brand Elle will see a variant in its name, the C1 Elle. The other new variant is the Urban Ride. These two special editions will be available to order in the UK from May 2018.
