Audi has announced that Markus Duesmann will become its new CEO on April 1, 2020. The 50-year-old mechanical engineer most recently held the position of board of management member for purchasing at BMW.
“As an excellent engineer, Markus Duesmann will do everything in his power to leverage the great potential of the Audi brand and will once again demonstrate the promise of Vorsprung durch Technik,” explained Dr Herbert Diess, chairman of the supervisory board at Audi.
Duesmann will succeed Bram Schot, who has held the position since June 2018. The former BMW board member has extensive experience of the automotive industry, having been active for almost three decades.
In his new role, Duesmann will be expected to lead stable capacity utilization at Audi plants worldwide and to promote increased innovation in technology.
“Schot took over the management of Audi at a difficult time, very successfully managed the business and initiated important changes. We expressly thank him for that,” added Diess.
