Role & Responsibilities
Working within the electrical section of Test Engineering, ensuring existing facilities are fit for purpose and maintained correctly. Support the specification and engineering of new facilities.
Duties
Working within the Test Engineering team on electrical and instrumentation topics
Design and build electrical systems for test rigs and safety systems
Support the specification of electrical systems in new facilities
Support resolution of electrical issues affecting the effective running of engine dyno, rigs, battery testing and vehicle testing facilities.
Supervision, as required, of technicians when required
Implement new electrical infrastructure in conjunction with MPT Facilities department to support installation of new testing equipment.
Ensuring the instrumentation equipment is suitable for the test programmes
Support on best practices, including Health and Safety
To monitor the effectiveness of current equipment and ensure internal/external maintenance programs are in place
Qualifications
HNC preferred
Skills and Experience
18th Edition BS7671 qualified
At least 5 years’ experience of complex electrical and instrumentation systems. ideally within an engine development environment, using dynamometer test beds and test rigs
Experience with electric drives and controllers desirable
Good problem solving skills are essential
High +300VDC electrical experience an advantage
The ability to approach new technical challenges with an open mind
Responsible for providing technical support on Electrical and Instrumentation systems to ensure equipment is fit for purpose
Support electrical and instrumentation systems in new facility projects
