BMW has announced a full engine range refresh for its 4-Series, which is set to take place this spring.

The three gasoline engines offered are all-new, whilst the German OEM has confirmed it will also make one of its new four-cylinder diesel units available for the sports car.

The flagship 440i-badged model will be powered by a newly developed 3-liter six-cylinder in-line TwinPower turbo unit with 326ps and peak torque of 450Nm, offering 7.7 l/100km fuel consumption and 179g/km CO₂ emissions.

A 2-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 252ps and 350Nm will also be available. BMW says that it is the most powerful latest-generation four-cylinder unit it has available. In 430i Coupe guise the engine will go from 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds, with fuel consumption of 6.5 l/100km and 151g/km CO₂ emissions. A 184ps four-cylinder gasoline engine will form part of the range, badged as the 420i.

A latest-generation four-cylinder diesel will take its place in the line-up. The 425d unit will offer 224ps and 450Nm in Coupe guise, offering a 0-100km/h time of 6.5 seconds and fuel consumption/CO₂ emissions figures of 4.9 l/100km and 129g/km respectively.
