Chevy unveils EV race truck

Chevrolet unveiled its Silverado EV ZR2 off-road race truck concept at the Mint 400 off-road race in Nevada last week (March 5-9), where the truck competed in the event as part of the Hall Racing team’s line-up.

The EV ZR2 race truck concept joined the team’s Silverado ZR2 and Colorado ZR2 trucks, with team owner Chad Hall driving the all-electric off-road race truck in the Limited class, a 73-mile lap of the Mint course.

“There is no better proving ground to test the limits of our vehicles than competitive racing,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Chevrolet. “The Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept, which uses 98% GM production parts, showcases some of the best of Chevrolet to produce a beyond-capable pickup to tackle a challenging race of the Mint 400’s magnitude.”

According to Chevy, the EV ZR2 race truck concept made its debut after only five months of development and features roughly 98% GM production parts. The cornerstone of the truck’s off-road capabilities are its prototype Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve continuously adaptive dampers.

Chevrolet engineers were embedded with the Chad Hall Racing team to analyze the race truck’s performance, durability and capability, with each learning applied to production vehicles, performance parts and accessories from Chevrolet. Today, more than 44 off-road performance parts and accessories are available for customers to buy for production trucks.
