Improved emissions analysis with new advanced analyzer

The new ECM NOx/NH3 5240 analyzer from labcell combines the measurement of NOx, NH3, O₂, and lambda in a single, compact package. Unlike all other ceramic NOX sensor systems, this new tool eliminates the cross-interference of NH3 in the NOx measurement and hence provides separate NOx and NH3 readings resulting in the development of better emission controls for diesel and spark-ignition engines.

The system can also be used with smaller internal combustion engines and is programmable for fuels other than diesel. The instrument is designed primarily for use in engine dynamometers, but it is also suitable for use during in-vehicle testing. Thanks to its six analogue outputs and CAN connectivity, the NOx/NH3 analyzer is easy to integrate within almost any data acquisition and engine control system. It has two large, clear LED displays on the front panel.

Labcell’s instrument uses a pair of sensors, both of which have their calibration stored in a memory chip in the connector. For improved accuracy with high exhaust gas pressures, a pressure compensation kit can be specified. Measurement ranges are 0-5,000ppm for NOx, 0-1,000ppm for NH3, 0-25% for O₂, 0.4-25 for lambda and 6-364 for AFR. Response times are less than one second for NOx and NH3, and less than 150ms for the other values.
