Cars to look out for: Geneva 2015

This year’s Geneva Motor Show, which will take place from March 5-15, promises to be crammed full of vehicles worth getting a closer look at. Here are just some of the cars (and engines) that ETi is looking forward to seeing.

McLaren P1 GTR and P13

Not only will McLaren debut its most powerful car to date (the P1 GTR sports a power-to-weight ratio in excess of 700ps per ton), but the OEM will also reveal details of its entry-level sports car, the P13, which will take on the likes of Porsche, Ferrari and Audi.

Honda Civic Type R

Though the Japanese OEM unveiled the latest in Honda’s performance lineup at last year’s Paris show, they were a little stingy on the technical details. Expect more solid info on the first turbocharged powertrain in the R line’s history, which is expected to put out in excess of 280ps.

A new Lotus

Keen to put a troublesome few years behind it, the British OEM will debut a new model at Geneva. After a spate of staff redundancies, Lotus has had a tough time, so despite the fact that there are no real details of what it’ll unveil, there’s no small amount of interest.

Honda NSX

Hot on the heels of hybrid supercars from Ferrari and McLaren, the latest version of Honda’s iconic NSX will feature a twin-turbocharged V6 coupled to a 9-speed DCT, as well as a three electric motor-hybrid system.

Jaguar F-Pace

Having not unveiled its new crossover at Detroit, many are expecting JLR to show the F-Pace at Geneva, showing off the OEM’s take on a family sports car.

Alfa Romeo 4C Spider

Expect to find out more about the production version of the 4C Spider, boasting more than 240ps by virtue of its 1750 TBi engine.

Lexus GS F

With a 473ps naturally aspirated 5-liter V8 under the hood, the Lexus GS F is the latest in the OEM’s F line, sporting peak torque of 527Nm between 4,800 and 5,600rpm. Having debuted at Detroit, expect the European crowds to be keen for a first look.

Infiniti Q60 Concept

Powered by a 3-liter twin-turbocharged, direct injection V6, the Q60 concept is the precursor to Infiniti’s premium sports coupe expect in 2016.

Kia Optima

The Korean OEM’s Mondeo- and Passat-beater will be unveiled to the public at Geneva. Powering the fourth-generation Optima will be a revised 1.7-liter turbocharged diesel, with a diesel-electric hybrid version (shown at Paris last year and pictured above) expected to follow.

Volkswagen Cross Coupé GTE

European audiences will get a look at VW’s plug-in hybrid five-seater midsize concept at Geneva. The Cross Coupé is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 petrol engine and two electric motors, delivering 360ps and a top speed of 209km/h.
